Summary

Detective Tracy Crosswhite draws a long-dormant serial killer out of hiding in a nerve-shattering novel by New York Times bestselling author Robert Dugoni。

Tracy Crosswhite is reopening the investigation into Seattle’s Route 99 serial killer。 After thirteen victims, he stopped hunting and the trail went cold, stirring public outrage。 Now, nearly three decades after his first kill, Tracy is expected to finally bring closure to the victims’ families and redeem the Seattle PD’s reputation。 Even if it means working with her nemesis, Captain Johnny Nolasco。

Lead detective of the original task force, Nolasco dares Tracy to do what he failed to: close the case。 Forming an uneasy alliance, Tracy and Nolasco revisit old leads and pursue new evidence only to unearth high-level corruption and cover-ups as dangerous as the elusive killer himself。 At the risk of being exposed, such deadly and powerful forces will go to extremes to stay in the shadows。

That’s just where Tracy and Nolasco are headed—to find the twisted truth behind a killer’s motives, his disappearance, and his chilling comeback。

wow! really suspenseful I normally wouldn’t have read this book had it not been one of the books offered in the reading program achievement’s! I’m so so glad that I did read/listen to it。 It was really enjoyable overall and kept me guessing。 I did figure out the culprit but it was only a slight hunch。 This was a page turner and I found myself returning to listen in large chunks bc I was so anxious to find out what happened next!! I’m considering going back to read the entire series。

Technically, I believe that this book could be read as a stand-alone。 There is just enough background given throughout the book that you aren't lost on the plot points that happened previously。 And while yes, the story-line given here is technically the final part of a trilogy of events within the other books, it is still unique to this story。 Having been a fan of this series from the beginning, and understanding the animosity between Tracy and Nolasco, I was curious to see not only how these tw Technically, I believe that this book could be read as a stand-alone。 There is just enough background given throughout the book that you aren't lost on the plot points that happened previously。 And while yes, the story-line given here is technically the final part of a trilogy of events within the other books, it is still unique to this story。 Having been a fan of this series from the beginning, and understanding the animosity between Tracy and Nolasco, I was curious to see not only how these two would get along having to work together, but if my opinion of Nolasco would change at all considering what I knew about him。 Interestingly enough, I felt that this story was able to stay true to the characters and how they had been throughout the other nine novels, while allowing for the growth that was needed for this novel。 And while I don't think they will ever be friends, I'm curious to see what does happen next with them。 I enjoyed the hunt as Tracy and Nolasco go back over every detail of the case, looking for something that may have been missed (or in another instance a detail not followed up on), and while I had my suspicions as to who was behind the murders, I was still surprised not only by the culprit, but for the reasoning behind them。Sadly, what killed this one for me was the ending。 After everything that happened, one of the key players in the game was allowed to walk away and move on with their life as if their choices in the past weren't the catalyst for everything that happened after。 When that happened, it not only left a bad taste in my mouth, but I felt it cast a shadow over the entire story。 Sure the killer was stopped, but that doesn't mean that true justice was served。 DISCLAIMER: I received a complimentary copy of this novel from the publisher。 This has not affected my review in any way。 All thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are 100% my own。 。。。more

I struggle with this Tracy Crosswhite story。 It didn't hold my interest until 50%。 As a matter of fact I almost stopped reading at that point。 The story was very slow and I just wanted it over。 Might be time for Detective Tracy Crosswhite to retire。 I struggle with this Tracy Crosswhite story。 It didn't hold my interest until 50%。 As a matter of fact I almost stopped reading at that point。 The story was very slow and I just wanted it over。 Might be time for Detective Tracy Crosswhite to retire。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Loved the book and seeing this side of Nolasco。I have been following Tracy Crosswhite since 2020 when I read the first book and quickly finished the rest of it as well。 But I felt that there were still some loose ends and a bit sad that it is ending this way。 1。 Who really attacked Lisa?2。 What will happen to the Mayor and Weber?Another book to address all the stories Lisa was working on would be a perfect ending to the series。

This is an amazing book! Although this is #10 in a series and I haven’t read any of the previous books I had no problem understanding what was happening。 I like that this book has more than one plot that all work together。 You have two task forces looking for a killer along with adversaries forced to work together。 The ending is unexpected。 I am pleased to read the author intends to continue writing this series。 If you like a well written Murder/thriller you would probably enjoy this book。

Cold Case ClosureDogged investigation for a reopened cold case more than 20 years ago brings secrets, lies and corruption to the forefront for Tracy and the former Task Force。 Good police procedural and another Robert Dugoni at his best。

I have not read the previous books in this series but thoroughly enjoyed the book without the benefit of past history。 Well written。 Great characters with all their faults and strengths。 Tracy is one in a million, dedicated officer who pushes until all doubts and questions are answered。 Slowly trust builds up between Tracy and Captain Nolasco 。 The partnership is a joy to watch develop and that partnership and relationship saves them both in the end。 Very good read

“I know my place very well, sir。 I am a servant for the people of King County, Washington, tasked with solving fourteen murders and maybe saving lives in the process。"Once again, Tracy Crosswhite shows how completely BA she is。 It took a lot to replace the In Death books as my favorite crime/mystery series (still love them, don't come at me lol), but the Tracy Crosswhite series has managed it。 In book 10, of the series, Tracy is partnered with Nolasco, the Captain that I absolutely love to hate。 “I know my place very well, sir。 I am a servant for the people of King County, Washington, tasked with solving fourteen murders and maybe saving lives in the process。"Once again, Tracy Crosswhite shows how completely BA she is。 It took a lot to replace the In Death books as my favorite crime/mystery series (still love them, don't come at me lol), but the Tracy Crosswhite series has managed it。 In book 10, of the series, Tracy is partnered with Nolasco, the Captain that I absolutely love to hate。 Robert Dugoni didn't quite manage to make me like him, but the flashbacks for the original Route 99 taskforce really gave more insight into some of why he is the jerk he is and I am able to empathize with him more。 I'd love to get more of Nolasco's backstory as he is definitely a multi-faceted character。 Really, all the characters in this series are well written and dynamic。 Some, I'd love to be friends with and some I am truly itching to see come to justice。 I love that Tracy's homicide team is still playing a role even though she is in the cold case division。 I think she's perfect for the job because Tracy truly doesn't give up on achieving justice for the victims and their families。 One of the things that I love about this series is you can truly pick up any book in the series and start there, though it really is better if you read them in order。 At this point, honestly, I'd read anything by Robert Dugoni。 He is very thorough and you can tell that he does a lot of research into his books。 I was lucky enough to get a copy of this book from Netgalley, in exchange for an honest review。 This has not affected the content of my review in any way。 。。。more

Another Great ReadI’ll be honest, I knew “whodunnit” early on。 But it didn’t make the novel any less exciting as the characters figured it out。 I love Tracy and I’m happy to see how Nolasco’s character developed in this installment。 Im already looking forward to the next!

This latest addition to the Tracy Crosswhite series is as great as the previous nine。 A plot of twists and turns that had me guessing until approximately the last 10%。 Great plot。 If Robert Dugoni writes it, you can't go wrong reading it。 Can't wait for the next installment in this series。 This latest addition to the Tracy Crosswhite series is as great as the previous nine。 A plot of twists and turns that had me guessing until approximately the last 10%。 Great plot。 If Robert Dugoni writes it, you can't go wrong reading it。 Can't wait for the next installment in this series。 。。。more

Gosh I love these books。 It's probably really just a 4-star, but I'm giving it a cumulative goodwill 5。 I liked the mystery, the surprising new friendship for Tracy, and the fact that this book was less detailed WRT gruesome stuff than some of the books。 I raced through this and had a great time。 Gosh I love these books。 It's probably really just a 4-star, but I'm giving it a cumulative goodwill 5。 I liked the mystery, the surprising new friendship for Tracy, and the fact that this book was less detailed WRT gruesome stuff than some of the books。 I raced through this and had a great time。 。。。more

Oh man, this one was fun! It was also dark and twisty。 But man…。if you have read the other books in this series you are in for a treat! As someone who is fully invested in these characters, i loved seeing Tracy and Nolasco forced to work together in this one。 Their banter was fun and the case was so interesting。 I love that Tracey is now doing cold cases and I can’t wait for the next book in the series!
